now this post is dedicated to BF3 and a hope that the game will blow our minds, thou it gets less and less likely with what they are releasing of information. however here is what I think as a minimum they should do to at least keep true to it's roots.
and I know we aren't all gonna agree on what I write.
First of all a short list without explanation for a easy overview.
NOT a CONSOLE PORT!!!
Large Maps
64 or above players support
Prone
Large Ships and maps that have support for them.
Better joystick support.
Better Updating system.
Better Teamplay.
Better Knifeing option.
NO DOG TAGS when beeing knifed.
Hardcore/Softcore
a Modding Eviroment
the ability to host your own Ranked Servers
a good administrator environment for the servers
good handheld weapons balance.
okay I'll now take them one by one with Explanation.
NOT a CONSOLE PORT
well it's self explanatory however for the dense if they make a console port there will be a lot of possibilities missing in the end result simply because consoles can not physically support it, my suggestion to avoid this and at the same time to save time is to make the game for PC and afterwards Downsize it to console that way the console still get the game but the PC won't be affected by the consoles limitations.
Large Maps.
the maps of BFBC2 were Way to small for all out war it meant that the game play was limited and felt stuck at any point all the time. large maps will give the feeling of all out war and will also give the opportunity to outflank the enemy with much more complex tactics available than just frontal assaults. this will make the game successfully simply because the clans will develop tactics and keep true to the game because it will require a lot of teamwork to be successful.
64 or above players support
simply because if the player count is high the maps have to be of a certain size so it is sort of an extension of the above.
Prone
is needed if I want to go to cover. and just cause prone is in the game dolphin diving and bunny jumping can easily be avoided by programming in a short delay of when you can shoot when going to prone or when jumping. and don't come with the excuses you did to BFBC2 cause they were soaking of the hidden excuse :"cause this is a console port we can't change it"
Large Ships and maps that have support for them.-
Well to be honest I miss the BF1942 size maps and ships. simple as that. could be fun to have this in the new BF3
Better joystick support.
well this is self explanatory however for the ones that don't know. BFBC2 was so large a console port that the entire Joy stick was at best up to the player to mess around with to get it working and I'm talking settings files that we shouldn't mess with. and at worst not working at all.
Better Updating system.
well the updating system was actually Very good it just had one flaw and this flaw made it difficult for the programmers at dice to make too many updates without the updates becoming too large in size.
Better Teamplay.
what killed BFBC2 for me was how little Teamplay there was needed to win.
at least in BF2 there was a minimum of teamplay needed to win in BFBC2 a good player could achive victory for his entire team...
Better Knifeing option.
simply here because I did like how the knife was tied to a button. I just didn't like all the errors and auto aim and such.
NO DOG TAGS when beeing knifed.
I know a lot of people liked this, But this alone made a lot of conflicts in the clans I know please don't make it so in this BF3 game it doesn't make you anything but a bully to other players anyway.
I've just thought of another feature.
Hardcore/Softcore
Don't want it cause the game should be in one mode only Hardcore and that's it so it's the same for everyone and so the community clans don't get divided to two factions which in the end just looses enough players so there won't be any real competitive play.
a Modding Eviroment
this is because the game will proloong it's lifetime and player support base if we can adjust and improve on the underlying game through modding.
the ability to host your own Ranked Servers
this is cause there are lots of clans out there and they don't all have the money to buy a rank server.
a good administrator environment for the servers
well again the only Real way to get the admins involved in running a server good is if they can set the server up just like they want it instead of risking loosing the attention of the admins because they don't really care when they can't set it up, they will then also get sluggish at actually banning or removing cheaters and suspicious persons.
good handheld weapons balance.
with this I mean something like this.
Any handheld weapon makes a head shot = one shot kill
any powerful handheld weapon make a body shot= one to two shot kill
any less powerful handheld weapon make a body shot = two shot kill.
any sidearm make a body shot = 3-4 shot kill.
any powerful handheld weapon make a hit in the arm or leg. = two to three shot kill.
any less powerfull handheld weapon make a hit in arm or leg. = three to four shot kill.
any sidearm make a hit in arm or leg = four to five shot kill.
range should be 100-400 meters for iron sight depending on weapon type however the maps should be large enough for the scoped weapons to have an advantage on the 400-800 meters range and the large sniper rifles should have an advantage at 600-1500+ range. the + is because the most long range shot I've seen is actually at 2200 meters however it was with a special made sniper and bullet, another sniper at same range and larger caliber took 3 shots to hit. this way the snipers and the rifles work Well within their own range.
and now we are talkin weapons adjustable scopes wouldn't be that bad either
